As far as early punk goes, there isn't a whole lot from Italy worth getting excited about (at least not that I've heard). Ice & the Iced, Rancid X and the Tampax//Hitler SS 7"s are probably the only real classics of the bunch. The Tampax - Sorry Not Tonight LP has some good moments, but I wouldn't consider the 2 7"s to be particularly great. Does the O'dio 7" really date from 1980, or from 1986? The "Let It Shit" LP has a particular theme, even down to the brown coloured vinyl. That theme even extends to the music, which is pretty much shit as well. Mittageisen (supposedly only 50 copies still exist of the 7") is over-rated (and hence overpriced). The 7" tracks are fairly easily available on the Sexy, Ipnotico CD if you don't feel like paying $400 or more for the 7". The S.I.B. LP may be the best Italian punk LP. While its good it isn't great. The Great Complotto Pordenone has some good punk songs, along with some pretty good wave/art stuff. I think there's also an LP called just "Great Complotto" which is almost all just wave. If you're a hardcore fan there are some good releases, especially the first 2 Nabat EPs. The Furious Years of Italian Hardcore Punk CD also has a number of good releases compiled together if you're into that sort of thing. Art fans might like the Mind Invaders EP or the GSG 9.
